I just finished an interview with Donna Yen for this month's Cherry Bombe member meeting, where I discussed my career transition from real estate to wine and content creation, along with plenty of gardening tips and tricks. I've also caught a nasty cold, which has forced me to slow down after a busy month. I'm enjoying making various teas and potions during this downtime. I've also completed my end-of-month financial review using my friend, author, and mentor Michela's personal finance dashboard, which I've relied on for nearly two years. I’ll be back this weekend with a special Saturday newsletter: The Complete June Gardening Guide. In today’s letter:
Hold on to your tomatoes: tips for growing tomatoes successfully and a note on seasonal creep
Sourdough Kefir English Muffins - for extra tanginess!
A hearty Oxtail, Beet, and Bean Stew with Fennel Seed Croutons
Tomatoes are here: tips for a successful summer harvest
Hold on to your hats; tomato season is upon us! The first cherry tomatoes and some greenhouse beefsteaks are making their debut. We’re not even into summer yet, and it’s already being declared another #tomatogirlsummer. I’m here for it! But, let’s talk about seasonal creep for a moment. Can we slow down a bit? Enjoy the last of the root vegetables, spring greens, peas, and asparagus while they’re still here. Before we know it, August will arrive with ears of corn ready to be harvested, and we’ll be thinking about pumpkins, squash, and Thanksgiving ideas. Eating seasonally and locally means making the most of what’s abundant right now. This can be a challenge, even for me. In today’s post, I’ll share tips for having an abundant tomato season in your own garden. This way, when the time comes (and it will soon), you’ll be ready with tomato recipes, canning tips, and gently reminding everyone to slow down with the butternut squash soup until at least Labor Day.
