Seeds to Sow in April
Acquiring seeds for your garden can be done through local nurseries or online retailers. April is an opportune time to sow a variety of seeds directly into the soil. Here’s an exhaustive list of seeds suitable for sowing in April, along with some practical tips for each:
Beans: Beans can be categorized into four groups: Pole fresh, Pole dry, Bush fresh, and Bush dry. The distinction lies in their growth habits and usage; pole varieties are climbers, while bush types have a low growth form and don’t require supports. Fresh beans are consumed as green beans, whereas dry beans are left on the plant to dehydrate fully. Although fresh beans can be dried, dry bean varieties often lack flavor when eaten green. I plan to plant Contender and Dragon Tongue in the bush fresh category, while for pole fresh beans, Chinese long beans are my choice due to past successful yields.
